Rampart Launches Vanguard Total-Body Radiation Protection for Interventional Imagers

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Rampart will launch its Vanguard radiation protection solution at TCT 2026.
  • Vanguard is intended for interventional imagers working at the head of the table.
  • Initial procedural data showed > 99% total-body dose reduction and > 98% reduction in eye-level radiation exposure.

October 29, 2026—Rampart announced the launch of Vanguard, a radiation protection solution designed for interventional imagers working at the head of the table.

The company will introduce Vanguard at TCT 2026 where it will also share early data from real-world Vanguard cases demonstrating the system’s potential to significantly reduce occupational radiation exposure without compromising patient access or procedural workflow, noted the press release.

Ali J. Ebrahimi, MD, who is a clinical design collaborator for Vanguard, commented on the product launch in the Rampart press release. Dr. Ebrahimi is an interventional cardiologist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in Birmingham, Alabama.

“I’ve experienced firsthand the physical toll of wearing lead and the difference it makes when you no longer have to,” stated Dr. Ebrahimi. “As physicians, our ability to perform at the highest level is critical because patients’ lives and outcomes depend on it. Vanguard represents an opportunity to protect ourselves, extend our careers, and continue delivering the best possible care to our patients.”

At TCT 2026, Rampart will share new clinical findings demonstrating Vanguard’s performance during real-world structural heart procedures at UAB. Initial case data showed > 99% total-body dose reduction at the head of the table, with additional findings from 15 procedures demonstrating > 98% reduced eye-level radiation exposure with Vanguard.

The company noted that the launch comes after the recent release of the multisociety expert consensus statement on radiation protection in catheterization labs. The statement was published by David G. Rizik, MD, et al in JSCAI.

The multisociety statement calls for the immediate adoption of enhanced radiation protection devices in fluoroscopy laboratories, emphasizing the need to reduce radiation exposure and the orthopedic burden of heavy lead apparel while extending total-body protection to the entire procedural team, noted the company. Rampart’s educational resource on enhanced radiation protection is available online at lead-freeerpd.com.
